France
Each wine producing region in France specializes in the production of different types of wines and flavors.
Although New World regions such as California are increasingly presenting a challenge to the French wine industry, France is still considered a premier region in the world to find excellent wines with great finesse and elegance. The records kept by Christian monks have enabled the French to continue to make the quality wine they have perfected over centuries of work, although soil conditions, climate (and passion) are facilitators as well. Major wine areas in France are: Burgundy, Bordeaux, Alsace, the Rhone Valley, Champagne, Provence and the Loire Valley.
